Within the Maya religion there are nine gods of the underworld, called the "Bolontiku".
There are 5 male and 4 female Gods and each of these gods has his own task. During the Maya Empire these Gods ruled over all. Each for a day in a nine-day cycle, like the planets that follow one another in our seven-day week.
